I’ll be honest: I’ve never really liked having pictures taken of myself. It’s always been something I’ve avoided, feeling awkward and self-conscious. But I came to a point where I realized that I needed updated pictures—not just for my business, but also to reflect the personal growth I had gone through over the past few years. After all, my journey has been one of transformation and healing, and it was time for my photos to capture that. I also knew my brand needed a refresh with professional shots that aligned with who I am today.

After my father’s passing, and in the middle of my personal journey with weight struggles and hypothyroidism, I knew I needed two different types of photographs. Having lost 89 lbs since having my youngest, Zaleigh, I wanted my photos to not only reflect the physical transformation but also the emotional and mental growth I had experienced.

Deitra Jackson: A Powerful Soul Who Captures More Than Just Photos

When I met Deitra Jackson at a Chambers of Commerce event, I immediately felt that her energy was something powerful. From the way she introduced herself to the aura she exuded, I knew she was the photographer I had been searching for. As a Southern Spiritual Messenger, I wanted photos that not only captured my outward appearance but also reflected my soul and journey. It was important to me that my photos told a story of who I am, where I come from, and where I’m going.

Deitra didn’t just take photographs; she took the time to understand my story. A few days before the shoot, we had a consultation where she shared an e-book Headshot Guide flipbook, filled with easy and helpful tips and suggestions to help me feel confident and prepared. What? Thank you, Sheila, for offering such a lovely space and making me feel so comfortable. You were such a sweet lady, and your kindness made all the difference in the world! The office felt inviting, and it set the perfect tone for the shoot.

Deitra patiently guided me through the entire session, helping me feel relaxed and confident in front of the camera. When it was time for the photos, something shifted. Deitra’s words were more than just kind—they were affirming and powerful. She reminded me of my strength, beauty, and bravery, which is exactly what I needed to hear. In that moment, I felt seen and empowered. It was like God had placed her in my life at exactly the right time to offer the encouragement and support I needed.
